Confirmed features
How co-op works
The official pitch treats a second player as an amplifier, not a requirement.
One or two players
Official material presents Crimson Moon missions and runs for solo players or a two-player online party. PlayStation lists one player locally and up to two players online; Steam lists both single-player and online co-op. No three- or four-player squad mode is advertised.
A shared Life Pool
During a run, partners draw from the same limited pool of lives. A teammate can resurrect the fallen, but repeated deaths still consume the group resource. This makes survival a shared decision rather than two completely separate runs.
Build synergy
The build system is designed to let two Nephilim complement each other. Gear, Weapon Arts, Boons, Angels, and temporary powers can create pairings that are more effective together. Exact meta combinations should wait for hands-on testing.
Dynamic challenge
ProbablyMonsters says difficulty scaling and enemy composition adapt so missions feel appropriate whether you play alone or with a friend. The precise formula is not public, so claims about enemy health multipliers would be speculation.

Playing with a friend
Can you play the whole game together?
The broad co-op promise is clear; the boundaries of campaign progress are not yet fully documented.
ProbablyMonsters repeatedly describes Crimson Moon as a game you can play solo or with a friend, and the official store copy places co-op inside the core mission pitch rather than describing it as a separate side mode. That supports the expectation that two players can share hunts through Gildenarch. It does not yet prove that every tutorial, story transition, hub interaction, or future mode accepts a partner.
The official material also has not shown the complete joining process. We do not yet know whether a player creates a persistent lobby, sends a platform invite before selecting a Ward, allows drop-in joining after a mission begins, or relies on a separate party screen. Random matchmaking remains a different question from direct friend invites, and neither flow should be invented before it is demonstrated.
Progress and rewards
What do the host and guest keep?
The shared Life Pool confirms that partners share part of the run state, but it does not automatically mean story credit, purified equipment, mission unlocks, or every loot drop are shared identically. The team has confirmed permanent gear and broader progression at the game level; it has not published a host-versus-guest rules table. Until that appears, both mission credit and loot ownership remain Unknown.
Cross-progression is separate from co-op and crossplay. A game can let two platforms play together without moving the same save between those platforms. No first-party page checked for this update clearly confirms account linking, cross-save, or cross-progression.
